how to hypnotize yourself
November 2, 2010
This post is just about the basics behind about how to hypnotize yourself. So I will through a few steps below with the difference between hypnotizing someone and yourself. The biggest obstacle with self hypnosis is yourself, you need to make sure that you are 100% into opening your mind and accepting change.
1) Hypnotic Induction
Hypnotize someone - this is when you put them in a relaxed state and begin to pull down their mental guards to open their mind to a trance.
Self hypnosis - This is simply the fact that you are consciously opening your mind to the thought of hypnotizing yourself to improve yourself.
2) Indirect suggestion
Hypnotize someone - This is when you are indirectly implanting subconscious suggestions that create a different perceived reaction to a problem or situation.
Self hypnosis - Usually called a MANTRA where you know what your problem is and what word or phrase consciously works for you. Now you are implanting this word (mantra) into your subconscious to increase its effectiveness
3) Trance
Hypnotize someone - This is when your subject is in a trance state and you are maintaining this state with suggestion, power words, body language and tone.
Self hypnosis - Once you are in a trance you can't let outside distraction or doubt break it. If you break your trance you need to begin your induction again and let your mind go.
Neuro Linguistic Programming
This is our subconscious programming and it is more about self improvement and overcoming mental road blocks that are effecting us from our past. This links very closely to hypnosis however it is very specific to therapy and not street or stage hypnosis. It still relates to the techniques used to implant suggestion (very Ericksonian) and is important to understand.
Well that wraps up this post, read the others about NLP and how to actually hypnotize yourself into a trance because they are a wealth of information. Self hypnosis helps with your ability to hypnotize others so try and master it if you can.
